Being a Parent is Not Hard Work

Just over a month old the little man is growing before our eyes. It’s odd looking at pictures from just a couple weeks ago and now seeing how much he has changed. He’s getting bigger and his features are becoming more apparent. We can’t decide if he looks more like one of us than the other but it’s nice to see that there are pieces of him that take after each of us. So far he’s got my blue eyes but his mom’s eye shape. which is great because with big blue eyes he stands out more.

I won’t lie, the first few weeks were rough having to wake up every few hours for feeding or just to rock him back to sleep but recently, he’s been going to sleep around 10PM and staying asleep until about 4AM when he wakes up and let’s us know he’s ready for food. By ‘letting us now’ I mean we hear his cries through the walls and in the Baby monitor as if in stereo. My wife takes on the brunt of the baby duty since I work at an office all day and at 4AM when he wakes up she takes care of him. Bless her soul for being such a great mommy.

When I am home, I try to interact with the little man as much as possibe. I’m just lost on what I can do. It’s not like I can discuss quantum physics or the inner workings of a computer with him. I really look like a fool moving around and sing bogus songs that I make up lyrics to, trying to keep him entertained. I’m glad there is no video of that because it’s probably the most embarassing stuff I do.

It’s not easy adjusting everything in life around a newborn but it’s not hard work either. Sure there are sleepless nights and moments we worry about him but when you love someone that much, it’s not work, it’s just the way things are.

Over all he’s a great baby. We’ve been fortunate thus far that he’s been so good. He’s still in the overly cute phase, that may change in a couple years when he’s running through the house but for now he is just a lovable wiggly baby.

Glad to hear all is going great for you guys! Just be sure you don’t post about those nights where your son is up all night crying, won’t go to sleep, and keeps you up for days straight. :) I mean those nights never ever happen… right? ;)

Since we’re having a boy, it’ll be cool to stop by here and see what we’ll be in for in July!

He is very fun to squeeze. Pretty soon you’re going to have your own squeezable baby.
