Bringing Baby Home

By the time the hospital discharged us, we were more than ready to go home. We appreciated all the help from the hospital staff but there is no place like home. I brought the car seat up to the room to use as transport for the little one. We had a class on this but it was done with a doll. Its much different trying to get a baby in a car seat when they are squirming around.
It took a couple minutes and after getting over the fear that somehow I was going to hurt him by putting his little arms in the straps, he was all buckled in and read to go. He didn’t like the seat too much but we put a binky in his mouth and he was good to go.
We only live about 20 minutes from the hospital which was nice since I had the chance to run home over the past couple of days to grab some things from the house and take care of our other baby, a 2 yr old Boston Terrier. For some reason it took me about 35 minutes to get home from the hospital this time. My wife made the comment that she had never known me to drive so careful. She was right. I have never driven with such precious cargo.
