Hey Grayson

Grayson, you are 3 months old and about 2 feet tall. You can’t exactly sit up on your own but you try. We have a good time putting you in your Bumbo Chair and watching you wiggle around.

This week has been a rough one with mom having to go back to work and you going to to childcare. I got to see a lot of you during the weeks but now I feel like I am seeing less of you. Granted you had been out with your mom during maternity leave going to baby yoga classes and having a fun time with your baby friends, it just feel different with mom at work and you somewhere else while I talk to people on the phone and continue looking for a job. I wish I was domesticated enough to be an at home dad or financially abundant enough to let mom spend her days with you but that’s not the reality we are in and we are making the best of it.

Your morning routine is our favorite. When you first wake up you seem to be in the best mood ever. Unlike when you wake up from a nap when you just want to be fed. You lay in your crib and look around making funny noises until we come into the room. All wrapped up in your swaddle you jerk back and forth until you see one or both of us standing over you.

Once you see us you get a huge smile on your little face and just stare. It is one of the most precious of faces. We should take a picture of it before you stop. The rest of your morning routine is just as adorable and it’s no wonder why your mom and I both fight over who gets to do ‘Grayson morning time’.

You still haven’t found the trick to rolling over but you are really close. I can’t tell if you get frustrated after trying a dozen time or you just hate laying on your stomach for too long but you let us know when you are done. For the most part though you like to lay on your mat and play with your animal friends. Sure, as you grow up you will think it was just a way for us to leave you on the floor for a few minutes so we can check emails but you really did enjoy it.

I never would have thought I would love a little bug as much as I do you. I figured I would have a large emotional reaction to my child but I cant even put into words how I feel about you after only a few months. I always heard “You never know until you have a child of your own” and I never believed them until now. I don’t think anyone without a child could understand the pure love felt.

So far you sleep thorough the night and I figure that will change at some point. Of all the stories I hear from other parents, the fact you sleep through the night is one thing I appreciate most. You have a pretty easy routine to keep up with and that makes us happy.
